Welcome to Pullman Dental Care!

Please allow me to introduce myself:

I am a native of the Pacific Northwest and graduated summa cum laude from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and music. While at WSU, I fell in love with Pullman, and I knew someday I would like to return. I supported myself through my college years as a swimming instructor, swim team coach, Forest Service fire lookout, violin repair man, fiddle teacher, and musician. I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Washington Dental School, and while establishing my dental clinic in Pullman, I served at  the University of Washington Dental School as an instructor for courses in dental anatomy and occlusion.

Being a Pullman dentist has allowed me to combine my love for helping and educating people with my passion for artistic and meticulous craftsmanship, while also enabling me to give back to the community I love. For six years I served on the Whitman County Planning Commission, and for seven years I served as director and head coach for the Pullman Swim Team. I have given in-service lectures at Pullman Regional Hospital on the topics of "treating dental emergencies" and "the risks of long-term bisphosphonate use on bone health". I even met my wife, Rylee, while volunteering to plant trees with the Pullman Civic Trust (many of you will know Rylee as the manager of our dental clinic and the helpful and friendly voice on the phone).

New technologies are being developed at a very fast pace, and I believe continuing education is essential to provide you with the best possible care. Since establishing my dental clinic in Pullman, I have continued to enroll in advanced courses in endodontics, periodontics, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, earning hundreds of hours of CE credits. I also maintain active memberships in the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, Spokane District Dental Society, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and Academy of General Dentistry, and participate in the Northwest Implant Study Club. Click HERE for our ongoing list of completed continuing education credits.

Outside of the dental office, I enjoy designing and crafting violins or creating and recording music in my studio. You may also find me riding my recumbent bicycle, swimming a workout, playing music, or officiating at local swim meets.

If you have been looking for a Pullman dentist, I hope you find my new website helpful. My goal has been to make it as informative, straight forward, and as easy to navigate as possible. All content, case presentations, and writing is my own (with helpful input from Rylee!), so if you have any suggestions, questions,  or requests, or if you would just like to learn more about us, please let us know. You may use the "Contact Us" tab above to send us your suggestions.

I look forward to meeting you.

John S. McInturff, DDS

Several patients have expressed an interest in learning more about Dr. McInturff's violin making, fiddle playing, recording, recumbent biking, and swim coaching. So...if you'd like to know what the doctor does when he's not taking care of your teeth, click HERE for our new "non-dental" page.
